Life Lately

Oh hello!

SO life has been hectic hectic lately..moving is seriously no joke!!! so here are some of the things I have been doing while adjusting to live here in Nashville!

1. I decided that this time around I wanted a grown up room… meaning no pastel gingham bedding from pottery barn teen, no aqua chair from target that screams dorm room… and no more millions of college and high school pictures in huge frames around my room! Instead I am doing simple frame with as few ridiculous pictures as possible, I have turned my desk into more of a vanity table, and my bed spread is red and cream and awesome!

2. I have also recently gotten really into HGTV again (I used to LOVE home shows… especially Trading Spaces on TLC… I may have been the only 12 year old on the planet who watched that show religiously its fine! So get ready to see a few DIY projects up on the blog as I am going to attempt a painter’s ladder shelf and an upholstered headboard!

3. Errands including new insurance, a new license, registration, and other grown-up things now that I am in fact part of real world… even tho I am currently in a state of Funemployment

4. job searching, apparently  I need to be able to support myself now? I did have an interview today at a Nanny Agency so I will probably be nannying again as well as hopefully working at a counseling center of some sort… yippee!

5. Laying by the pool…. hey it’s summer and a girl’s gotta get her tan on (with SPF obsessively applied)

6. WATCHING OLYMPIC TRIALS!!!! Have   I mentioned I love the Olympics? Or that I am going to the Olympics in THREE WEEKS?GAHKJGFHGFGSH? No well… I am! And as the pool loving water baby I am, I am loving the televised coverage of the trials in Omaha… I even know a few of the swimmers there… how cool is that?!

7. Cooking… nothing too gourmet but I do have a great summer bean salad recipe for you guys soon.. once I take pictures of it.. which means I need to make it again! Yes I will be posting food again.. I know I know…  have kind of forgotten this started as a food blog… oops

8. Hanging with friends/new roomies! And trying to make new friends… maybe someday I will randomly make friends at the pool…

9. I have also gotten back to a normal workout schedule!!! WOOOO… I work out every day… 30-40 minutes of cardio and then 2-3 days a week I do 20-30 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weights/circuit workouts!

10. I RAN… ok I ran 1/2 a mile… but up a steep hill…. unfortunately that was over a week ago in Colorado.. there is no way I am running outside here anytime soon… it is HOT and Humid!

Also those of you more religiously inclined please pray for those in Colorado…. the fires that are consuming multiple areas of the state including Colorado Springs and Boulder are pretty bad and many people are losing their homes right now… The heat, wind, and lack of rain isn’t helping.

On that slightly depressing note I am going to watch more trials

What have you been up to lately? Have you been watching Trials?

All Good Things Must Come To An End

GREETINGS!!!!

I am blogging today from my bed in NASHVILE!!! I have officially moved from Denver, City by the Bay Colorado to the great state of Tennessee! 5 days in and so far I’ve been loving it!

The past two weeks have been a blur of packing, goodbyes, 2 day road trip, unpacking, organizing, and hanging out with new/old friends! I have been a little bit lax on the healthy eating/working out… but as I am slowly getting settled those habits are becoming better! Not to mention the addition of Trader Joe’s back into my life! This will make it a lot easier and more fun!

So while I am enjoying my time here in my new city I thought I would share some pics of my last week in denver.. Including a baseball game and the most fun/ridiculous going away party haha!

Last weekend, after everything was packed up and shipped off, and all my goodbyes had been said, my mom and I went up to the mountains one last time in order to spend some time hiking and drinking wine with family friends!

On Sunday, we had one last family get together at my aunts, before we left Monday morning!! Then it was time to say goodbye to Denco, its been a great two years, with incredible friends and amazing experiences. I will miss everyone dearly, however I am very excited about this new chapter in my life!

So stay tuned… I promise to be less mia now that I quasi have everything together!

The End’s not Near, It’s here!

Tomorrow I graduate from my Master’s Progam. All year I have been looking forward to this, and yet tonight I find myself looking back on these past two years, and I can’t believe they are almost over.

In college I was kind of like a little lost lamb, I kinda sorta knew what I wanted to do, but kept changing my mind with basically every breath I took. Even my graduate school search was all over the place, applying to multiple different programs, as I still wasn’t completely sure what I wanted to do.

When I got into DU I was relieved because I really didn’t want to go Michigan State, and I was wait listed at my top program. I didn’t know then how much I would learn from this program, how much I would grow and be challenged, and how I would find myself.. at least a new part of myself, that I hadn’t acknowledged before. I have become more myself through my Master’s Program, and I finally have  a passion for something other than food, British History, exercise, sports and shopping. I cannot wait to go out in the world and become a great consultant/counselor. And some day, when I am ready, I will hopefully get a Doctorate in some field of psychology so that I can have even more freedom in pursuing my dream career.

There have been some incredibly difficult times, especially lately with my Master’s Project, where I have allowed myself to doubt my capabilities. And when I started consulting, especially in groups where I was terrified of being useless and causing more harm then good. Let’s not even think about my first two quarters of presentations… OMG were those painful for all of us involved. But now I can semi-confidently present in front of a large group, I have even presented at a conference! My confidence in my abilities has certainly grown, and that is mostly due to the feedback and support from my classmates who have been there for me most of the time, even on my bad tornado emo days, they had my back. I will be great someday because of them, and my professors as well of course!

I have also made incredible friends, such as my rooms who I love immensely and could not have gotten through with out her, my awesome consulting partner in crime who is a super hero in so many ways and has a fire and passion that I can only hope for most of the time! Not to mention Kat, my favorite married who has grace and strength, the bromance of the century for always making me laugh and being great , wise friends when I needed them, Lana who’s snark and wit always made me think and laugh, Taryn whose love for quotes and general optimism kept me a float,my kick ass Beer Olympic co-planner V who is also an inspiration to me, not to mention the funniest person I know, and every other person in my cohort who had some kind of effect on my growth, and whom I will always think of fondly!

So heres to all the people who made tomorrow possible (you two P and J Mull, and McWhitter who has gotten me through the last bit)

Tomorrow I will have another grad picture to add to the collection! So for now I will leave you with pictures from the other two!

Now I am off to way the graduation episodes of Laguna Beach… its a tradition… and yes  I AM THAT LAME… your welcome hahaha

Catch ya when I am an M.A.!!!!

How many grads have you had?

Beer Olympics 2012!!

This weekend was the event I have been looking forward to for months!!!! Beer Olympics! I was in charge of the festivities this year, with help from my friend Victoria, without whom I would not have been able to pull it off!

This year we did things a little differently and in honor of it being an actual Olympic year, we represented 6 countries! My team was team Mexico

The events included a Beer Relay, Pong, and Flip Cup, we wanted to do Dizzy Bat however… it was too much ahhaa! The other teams included ‘Merica, United States of Space, Djibouti, Dubai, and Switzerland!

Last Year Beer Olympics was hosted in Wash Park, however this year, despite me and Victoria’s assurances that it was fine… the weather was not on our side, so instead we went to Ted’s! With a few minor tweaks, it ran pretty smoothly and everyone had a great time!! We ended up grilling brats, hotdogs and burgers to munch on throughout the games!

It was a great weekend, especially as it may be the last time I hang out with a lot of these people before graduation and my move!

Ok now I am going to go be productive!

Peace out loves!

MAY Foodie Pen Pals

Howdy!!!!
Its that time again!!! FPP Reveal day!!!!! I got some great stuff this month but lets do a quick reminder of the program!
On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

FPP is a great way to get to know other bloggers and share your favorite things with them!

This month I had Maria at Real Fit Mama!!!

She sent me some great stuff- most of which I have already devoured!!!!

My favorite things? Def the tea and the mango slices! I love dried mango!!!! And obviously I am a tea person as I drink it every day!!!!

I haven’t tried the granola yet, but both the bars were yummy as well!!
