Foodie Pen Pal: What I Sent!

Hello!!!
I will be posting about my yummy goodies from Evette later but first I wanted to share what I sent to reader Darleen this month!
Here is what she has to say!

Meg, loved the package! Never would have expected English Goodies from a girl from Tennessee! Now I will expect the unexpected from my next foodie pen pal!

Shortbread is my all-time favorite, and obviously one of my husband’s since he finished them off with me having only two!

The preserves were amazing! The plum & mulled wine preserve gave me great idea for the Italian plums I have. The mulberry one sounds really good on some grilled chicken breast, and as for the other flavor….I think it was Dawson?….it disappeared out of the pantry! Going to have to talk to my husband about a hands-off-the-foodie-pen-pal-stuff!

Loved the tea towel and your postcard from the Olympics. What an amazing time you must have had! I would have loved to see Nathan Adrian swim in person! Proud to say he is a local boy!

Ok, the best for last, the Mini Magoo’s funstuff…….all I can say is WOW!! It has totally transformed my plain old yogurt! It also reminds me, of all things, Hawaii with the toasted coconut & almonds. Lesson learned? I’m hiding it in the vegetable drawer in the fridge….I know my husband won’t look in there!

You set that bar really high for my next pen pal! Thanks again, Meg!

My New Addition!

Hello!!!!
So as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I adopted a puppy on Saturday! I have wanted a dog for ages, and my roommates were very supportive of this, especially after we found the little guy on the website! His name was what drew us in, and his little smush face sealed the deal! I’ve always wanted a big dog that I could run with, however for the foreseeable future I live in an apartment and I wouldnt always have time for a really long run or walk with a bigger more energetic puppy so I decided on looking for another type of dog ive always wanted, a pug or a pug mix! Needless to say when I saw this guy on the Love at First Sight website (a puppy rescue in Nashville) I was done!!
Friends, meet Yoda!!!

Isn’t he the cutest thing? He is a pug/Boston terrier/dachshund! he has become quite the momma’s boy already but hes pretty spoiled by both my roommates and Whitt! I am really excited for this new chapter, even though puppy training is not exactly a cake walk!
You will be seeing lots of this guy on here so get ready!!!

Tell me about your pets, especially any tips you may have for a puppy!

Final Olympics Recap: water polo

Hello!!!
I decided to spread these out for those who like me are having Olympic withdrawal…. And also last week was my first full week of work and I was exhausted/super busy/ got a puppy (more on this later)
So now to the final event we had tickets too… Men’s water polo!!! First can I say omg this looks so hard- treading water and swimming up an down the length of the pool all while trying pass, catch or score goals….new found respect for water polo!
We went on Monday of the second week of the games, to the morning round! We saw Russia v Kazakhstan and Austrailia v Greece! It was a prelim round but we had front row center seats and it was incredible!

After the last match my mom and I scurried over to the today show for the third and last time! I’m pretty sure the crew was beginning to recognize us! It was worth it because we got to meet Nathan Adrian, Rebecca Soni, Dana Vollmer, Matt Grevers, Allison Schmidt, and Katie leDecky! We also saw Oscar pistorius which was great because I really admire his ability to compete against the greats with prosthetics on both legs!

This was a great end to my last day in the park! Afterwards I ventured into the city to meet my friend lyndsey from HS! We went to our favorite pizza place
– pizza express and then relaxed at her flat with a bottle of wine! The next morning we attempted to watch the Triathalon in Hyde park but it was packed!!! So we took lots of pictures instead!

Olympic Recap: Basketball Friday

Hiii!

So I dropped off the planet last week-mostly because I was exhausted everyday and wanted to hang out with my family as much as possible! We walked a ton, were in the City pretty much every day, and it was definitely the most active trip home I have ever had!

So where did I leave off? Oh yes, on Friday August 3rd, my mom and I went to Women’s Basketball! We got there early in order to do a bit of shopping at the Olympic Megastore, and then it was off to the games! We were late to the first game, and then watched the 2nd game of Australia v Russia!

It was a great arena, with lots of energy and I loved it! I even made a new friend from Scotland!

ImageIsn’t his outfit awesome?

After the game P-Mull and I went to the Today show again! On the menu this time? Ryan Lochte, Tyler Clary, and the adorable Gabby Douglas!

and my mom got to meet Mary Lou Retton!ImageImage

After our awesome time, My mom and I ventured out of the Mecca that was the Olympic park to Green Park to meet my friend Kevin from High School!

We wandered around and finally found a pub by Buckingham Palace! It was great to catch up after a couple years!

After lunch we went to his parents townhouse in Knightsbridge to meet up with my mom, and hang out for a little longer before P-Mull and I went back home!

Thai food and Olympics for the win that night- especially because it was the second to last night of swimming and the first day of athletics!

Ok off to the gym- more later!

That Time I hung out with Carmelo… aka Today Show!

And by hang out I mean he made funny faces at me in the crowd, and then I got a picture… well my dad got a picture of the back of our heads because PMull was having difficulty with the IPhone camera.. it happens- but I got a lot of pictures of his face! And everyone else’s! After swimming we got an awesome spot right up front (ok I pushed)  at the Today Show, which meant we got to meet the entire crew who came over, Carmelo, and w got pretty good pictures of everyone else who was on! This pretty much made me and my mom’s day even better.. my two bros weren’t over the moon about standing around for an hour- but I thought it was totally worth it! We are going back tomorrow so be sure to watch the Today Show tomorrow morning!

Here’s the video that shows us!!!! http://todayinlondonblog.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/08/01/13068080-carmelo-anthony-we-cant-duplicate-dream-team-92?lite

The Best Day of My LIfe Thus Far

Aka the day I saw swimming live at the Olympics

Seriously.. from the beginning we had an all star line up- Our first event 100 women’s Free featured Jessica Hardy and Missy Franklin, then we had mens 200 IM- oh herrow Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, Womens 200 breast- Rebecca Soni and Micah Lawrence kicked butt, Mens 200 Back with Lochte and Tyler Clary, and the women’s 4×200 relay which the USA won in the finals later today and set the Olympic record- I spoiled that on Twitter.. sorry.. but I was super excited… and NBC shouldn’t wait till Primetime

Also it was awesome seeing the 200 I’m as that was my race in HS and although I hated it at first I grew to love it!

So I figure I will share my pics and a video from today’s events!

After swimming we found the Today Show- and got on!!!!!!!!! tres exciting!

Ok off to bed because it is almost 1 am my time! catch ya tomorrow with a Today Show recap!

First Day of The Games! (for me)

Helloooooooooooo

OMG I am loving the Olympics… this is basically the best vacation of my whole entire life… and I basically want to go to every Olympics from now on… so Mom and Dad please move every four years… Thanks

Also… sorry if I have been bombarding twitter/facebook… I just can’t help it I’m so damn excited and I just want to share.

In other news.. I am officially a beach volleyball convert! I watched it in Beijing but it wasn’t my favorite… until I was there live… let me tell you… it was amazing.. such a vibrant atmosphere and I loved London’s twist by bringing is dancer’s and getting the crowd to be as loud as possible. I just love that… after all why go to an event if you aren’t going to get a little rowdy?!

We saw four games- each game is made of 2 sets of 21 and then a set of 15 if a tie breaker is needed… we had no tie breakers in any of our games.. the winners blew their opposition away in both sets! We also did not see America.. which I was actually ok with… we got to see Great Britain which is my second home anyways soooo I still got to share some home-team pride! The games were Men: Holland-Germany (Holland won) and Venezuela-Latvia (Latvia won), and Women: Holland-Austrailia (Holland won) and Great Britain-Italy (sadly Italy won)

Also genius London this venue was GENIUS… It was BEAUTIFUL… and you could see the Eye and the Big Ben.. and Beach Volleyball players have amazing bodies.. they definitely rock the bikinis they wear!

and of course on the way back to Waterloo train station I found this scarf and had to buy it- I wore it today to swimming!

It is huge and doubles as a flag… I love it! Needless to say my first ever Olympic event was pretty incredible!

I’ll be back tomorrow with swimming and TODAY show stuff!!! Tomorrow we have no tickets but we aren’t going to the Olympic museum, Borough Market, and to see the rings on Tower Bridge!

Have you been watching the Olympics? What are your favorite events? Have you given any new events a chance and loved them?
